Summary:

This study examines 160 military members’ perspectives about the events and conditions in levels of military commitment over time using data gathered from four military installations (one for each service branch). Results are discussed in terms of the three different types of commitment (affective, normative and continuance) as well as global commitment; individual characteristics (gender, marital and parental status); and the various issues affecting commitment.
